Make sure you switch on the Num Lock from the keyboard and you type the number from the Numpad and not from the top row of the keyboard. Here are the two simple steps to type the using Alt code from your keyboard. The tips above work for writing text on a graph or layout, not in row and column titles. A dash (generally, an em dash) can replace a semicolon used to merge two independent clauses. To type the using the keyboard you can the Alt code from the shortcode section.The symbols can be found in the 'Punctuation' section, or by using the search feature. To access the panel, hold down both the Control key and the Option key and press the spacebar, or select "Emoji & Symbols" from the Edit menu. To enter with Prism: put the insertion point into a text object or title where you want the dash, click the insert symbol button (with an alpha on it), go to the Math tab, and then double click on the wide dash in the second row of characters.For Mac hold down both the Option and Shift key and press the hyphen key. ![]() To enter an em-dash with Prism Windows: Hold down the left Alt key and type 0151 on the numeric keypad. An even wider hyphen is called an em-dash (because the letter m is wider than the letter n).For Mac: Hold down the Option key and press the hyphen key. Now drop the font menu and choose the Symbol font. Or hold down the left Alt key and type 0150 on the numeric keypad. To enter an en-dash with Prism Windows: Type a regular dash and select it. In fact, the hyphen and minus sign can be considered different characters, but not in Prism. When you use the hyphen character with most fonts (Arial, Times Roman), this is what you get.
